moxibustion

types of moxibustion
moxibustion can be applied in different ways, depending on the therapeutic goal
direct moxibustion
small amounts of moxa are placed directly on the skin and lit, delivering a potent and focused heat to specific points

indirect moxibustion
creates heat by placing moxa near acupuncture needles or hovering above the skin, providing a gentler warmth that spreads across a larger area.
moxa sticks
this method involves rolled bundles of moxa that are lit and moved slowly over the skin, providing even warmth that is great for larger areas of the body and pain relief

moxa stickers
mini rolled bundles of moxa that are backed by a small sticker, allowing them to be lit and placed directly on acupuncture points
moxibustion: heat therapy for deep healing
Moxibustion is a common therapy used in Eastern medicine that uses the warmth of the herb mugwort (Ai Ye) to stimulate healing. Moxibustion is often used alongside acupuncture to stimulate specific acupuncture points, nourish Qi (vital energy), dispel cold and stagnation, and enhance circulation. Beyond the physical benefits, moxibustion has a deeply grounding effect.
how it works:
Infrared heat is what makes moxibustion so effective at reaching the deeper layers of the body. It helps boost circulation, release stagnation, and ease muscle tightness in a very gentle manner. The heat also promotes detoxification and soothes inflammation, leaving you feeling more relaxed.
what to expect:
Moxibustion is commonly integrated into an acupuncture session, so you can expect to receive it as part of your treatment during your appointment.
